Top 10 Features Your Chatbot Must Have

Chatbots seem to find their way into the business world and using them is helping our day to day tasks and saves time for everyone.

A decision needs to be made from all decision makers in all organizations, to start using this technology, and to help their business and the chatbot technology to expand and improve.

When creating a program, whether it is an app or a chatbot, there are some features that all of them need to poses.

To help, we set up a list for you with ten features that every chatbot needs to have:

1). Feedback System

Feedback goes two ways: Give the customers a way to salute your brand and your chatbot, but also accept criticism and act accordingly to improve whatever there is that needs to be improved.

2). Usability

Choose the right messaging app so you can target the right audience. Facebook has the largest amount of users so it would be a safe decision. Try to spread your chatbot creation into all of the trendy messaging apps, as it will boost your user base.

3). Update and Customize

Be sure to update and customize your chatbot to improve the user experience, and make this tool the tool everyone will want to use.

4). Use the Phone

Smartphones are the most used devices today. This is the reason why messaging platforms are flourishing. Use the chatbot to be able to connect your customer with a real person if the issue can’t be resolved with the chatbot. With this, you will strengthen your customer connection with your brand, and they will feel safe to work with your company.

5). Involve Analytics

Analytics will provide to you a significant amount of data that you can use to make the wrongs right. With analytics, you can obtain firsthand knowledge on how the chatbot and human interaction is behaving, if the sessions are successful, if the chatbot acted in the manner that it needs to act in, and so on.

6). Subscribe

Give the opportunity to customers to follow your chatbot, as you will gain more returning users if combined with the marketing strategy of your company.

7). Push Sales

Make it smart enough to know when the conversation is coming to an end. Use this to widen the session and offer the customer some new products to see or a discounted product that they might want. It’s always polite to ask if they what the chatbot to show them, don’t just pop up an offer. Remember that the chatbot is mimicking human-like conversation and this is the main reason why we want to interact with them.

8). Augment the Space

Don’t stop with text and voice, give the users visualization. Provide quality photos that will provide a different perspective in the conversation. Everyone knows that a picture is worth a thousand words.

9). Payment

Be prepared to offer your clients payment inside the messaging app and don’t redirect them to your website’s checkout page, as they will appreciate that they can close the deal fast.

10). Variables

Variables are essential, so you can provide different words with the same outcome. In this way, you will have a chatbot that everyone can chat with.

Conversational Banking ─ From Branches To Bots

Chatbots are progressively used in all industries out there. Their reason to accept this technology is to better the customer’s experience and provide a faster way to reach the information needed.

There are a lot of reasons that drive banks to use chatbot technology, and here are several:

♦ New Ways to Reach the Bank

Messaging has been a proven channel to communicate with customers. Chatbots have improved the way of this type of communication. The shortage of time is a problem that people encounter today, and there is no time to go and visit a bank branch. This is why banks started to implement chatbots into the banking world.

♦ Fast Response Time

Chatbots have this advantage over other used channels of communications. There is no need to wait in the line or to go through their automated systems anymore, as they decreased the necessity of the need for waiting for your turn. Chatbots have the information in their hand, and they are faster than people to respond with the right information when interacting with them.

♦ 24/7 Support

Reaching the bank has never been easier. There are restless customer support agents that are working around the clock. Day or night, chatbots are there for us; no holidays or weekend rest, who doesn’t want an employee like that?

♦ Chatbots in Messaging Apps

Chatbots are slowly but effectively growing in the new digital space provided for them. Messaging apps like Facebook Messenger opened the door for them, and the benefits are enormous for users. Using these platforms, they can be interacted with without installing, and there is no need of memory consumption for the devices we are using.

♦ Ultimate AI for Banking Bots

The question is who will provide the ultimate brain for the banking bots? Several companies want to be the leader in this sector, and one of these companies is a company called Clinc.

This company, which is established in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is founded by AI and system research professors from the University of Michigan.

The research they did and the work outcome was their Finie Bot, as the name was created from two words, “Finance” and “Genie.” The bot’s name they created is showing us that they certainly want to provide a genius financial system and they want to be the leader in this sector.

♦ Online Banking

Online banking is the transitional phase for banks implementing complete autonomy of bots. The successes of online banking are the most prominent reasons why banking systems will change shortly.

One of the leaders among the banks who decided to make these drastic measures is Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo will cut down on 400 branches by the end of 2018, and they plan to reach the number of 1,000 shortly.

If these banks show successes, other banks will take their lead and will follow them sooner then we think.

Final Thoughts

The time will come where we will deposit our check or set up direct deposit inside Messenger. It will provide more safety and will act as a world bank for everyone to use.

The use of chatbots is coming to all playing fields, personal and business. The best way to see the possibilities of this technology is to create one for your company.

Use the platform we have created for you, here at ChattyPeople, and build your chatbot with no coding required on your end. Take advantage of the plan that we have and start making your chatbot for free.

Top 5 Analytics Platforms For Chatbots

Building a chatbot is not nearly enough to draw attention to consumers. The ones who made it first have an excellent start ahead of the others.

But everyone needs to track and monitor the behavior of these programs so that they can improve it and deliver a better experience to their consumers.

This is where analytics comes in.

Analytics:

Analytics is used by organizations to improve the business performance. This is especially valuable in the computer programming segment. Analytics is proven to be useful in many other areas, as well, such as:

  • Marketing Optimization
  • People Analytics
  • Risk Analytics
  • Security
  • Software

Analytics is found to have a profound use of machine learning techniques and AI programming. This is what chatbots are, as they are programs powered by AI and machine learning code.

If you will take this into consideration, here is a list of five platforms that you may use for your chatbot analytics:

1). Facebook Analytics

Facebook launched and lit up the fuzz about chatbots, so it was reasonable for them to provide analytics support for their chatbot.

What they did is that they extended the analytics made for Facebook Apps to provide analytics for the chatbots. You can use this tool to see the messaging performance on how many of them are sending and receiving, and another helpful tool is one which provides information if someone blocks the chatbot and even if they unblock it again.

They also made some exciting analytic features where you can track custom events and see the insight of the chatbot VS client engagement.

Some of the industries, like the travel industry or the customer service sector, can find this feature pretty helpful. They can see how many users were transferred to a real human agent about their inquiry.

2). Bot Analytics from Microsoft

Microsoft has some failed attempts to build the right platform for analytics of their bots. But they succeeded and having Microsoft in whatever follows after is a good reason to try their product.

Using their platform, you can quickly adjust the setting on how you want to monitor the chatbot’s behavior and the user interaction. They provided an easy menu with a couple of options:

  • Specify Channel: Here you can check which channels you want to track
  • Time Period: The menu where you can see the analytics for the time period you will choose. It can be the last hour or the last 90 days
  • Grand Total: Here you can see the total number of active users
  • Retention Rates: Track the users who returned and send a message again; they use a 10-day window frame for this statistic
  • User Chart: With the user chart, you can see the chatbot and the use of it in different channels
  • Messages: Here you can track the number of received and sent messages from and to the chatbot

3). Google’s Chat Base Analytics

Google has been in the analytics game for a while now, so they are expected to provide their services to the chatbot developers, too.

Google is dividing the analytics into three key sectors:

  • Monitor the Health of the Chatbot: With this feature, you won’t be able to measure the blood pressure of the chatbot, but instead, you will receive data about retention, active users and sessions
  • Fix Broken Experience: They made a solution where you can fix mistakes made by the chatbots by providing a prioritized list of inquiries or messages that weren’t handled well by the chatbot. With this, you can adjust the responses to the chatbot with the data provided
  • Understand: By understanding, it means to understand optimizing and tacking of the users’ journey in all sessions

4). Dash Bot

Dash Bot is another company that wants to get in the analytics world and competes with the ones mentioned above. And, I may say, they are doing a good job.

Dash bot wants to help you increase user engagement, acquisition and monetization using their bot analytics. This is what they promise they can do for you:

  • Gain Insights
  • Increase Engagement
  • Build a Better Bot

5). Bot Analytics

Analytics for conversation is what this company does. You can track the goals set by you with funnels and sophisticated segmentation in the conversation made by the chatbot and the user.

Final Thoughts

Analytics has been proven to be a useful tool, especially in the digital world. You need to use it so you can provide a better experience and improve the chatbot you have. If you don’t own your bot, you are at the right place to get started.

10 Custom Chatbot Development Tips

You probably have done some research and decided to try this new technology. If so, you have made the right decision, and you need to follow these tips now because everyone will do this eventually.

Today, building a chatbot is easy, and what you need to do is to concentrate on how to make the chatbot performance good enough for users to want to interact with it.

Nothing is perfect at the beginning, but it needs to provide a decent user experience and be sure to improve it along the way.

Here are ten tips on how to proceed when building a chatbot:

1. Improve It Often

Don’t abandon the chatbot and leave it on its own. Always try to implement new things or adjust the chatbot’s behavior. Make the wrongs, right, as it’s human to make mistakes at the start and nothing is perfect. However, this is no reason for you not to try to make it better and better.

2. Feedback

Make it able to receive feedback from the users, and don’t be afraid of criticism. This is free advice on how to provide a better performance of your chatbot and to satisfy the needs of the customers.

3. Data

Build it to store the data collected. Make it do simple questionnaires and surveys. Don’t forget to make it simple, as no one wants to answer 30 questions and lose time. Use the data provided from the chatbot to increase user engagement and better the retention rates.

4. Targeted Marketing

Build it in a way to target demographically and propose products that will have successes; target the right audience with the right product.

5. Promote It

Spread the awareness through using the entire set of tools that are out there. Use social media and the internet, alongside with printed material outside the digital world.

6. Train Your Chatbot

Give the chatbot the necessary knowledge to finish the tasks correctly by inputting as much information as you can. After doing this, from time to time, feed it with some more information.

7. Use Logic

When creating the conversation flow, use logic so for every question will be provided with the right answers.

8. Use Variables

Variables are very important and using them with the questions and responses will increase your chances to represent a smart chatbot

9. Sessions

Try to increase the session of the users and draw them in for new ones. Don’t allow yourself to wait for the users to come back; try to spice it up and engage them. You may use your promotions and discounts to draw attention and start a new session.

10. Analytics

When you feel ready to deploy the chatbot, and you did your proper testing analytics, this is the final step. Use one of the analytic platforms to monitor the engagement and behavior of the chatbot. You will receive important data that will give you a better insight that everything is working according to plan.

Final Thoughts and a Bonus Tip

How Are Slack Bots Good For Business?

Back in the day, we were using many things to get the job done. Today, for the better, all of this has changed, and changes are still coming.

Having a virtual space you can share with your co-workers is the ultimate office that all of us are seeking. This is what Slack is ─ a place where work happens. Having the opportunity to create a Slack bot and use it is a gift for every business.

Here is a list of how a Slack bot will be good for your business and for your team.

Team Assistant

Give your team the powerful assistant that they deserve. Don’t worry about spoiling them, as you will take away some of the daily tasks that are time-consuming which will give them more time for much more important things. Having the extra time, your employees can focus on the project and how to increase the company’s revenue.

Synchronization in Workflow

Slack, in general, is made as an open communication theme of work. When everyone is informed in real time about changes and updates to the project, your team will achieve synchronization like never before. You will never hear the question, “Why wasn`t I informed about the changes” again.

All Communication in One Place

Having this powerful virtual office and the ability to forward all other channels of communication you use will help you to be more productive. The best thing is that the sync between your multi devices works perfectly. So, no matter if are you are in front of your laptop or using your smartphone, you will be up to date, in real time, of what’s going on in your office.

All Be on the Same Page

Bots can provide daily feedback of the overall progress of your team. Having someone to monitor and provide you with updates about the project allows you to know if everything is going according to plan and if everyone is on the same page.

Data Analyzed Fast

We should all agree that computer programs are faster in calculating than we are. Having a chatbot to analyze data much quicker and spread the outcome through the entire team is a time saver. By having a tool like this, there is no need to hire an analyst which will help your company save money, and you will have it at your disposal at all times.

Meetings Scheduled

Chatbots can synchronize everyone’s calendar and set up a meeting. There will be no more lost in translation situations. Chatbots can store all the sessions you have so everyone will be up to date if they missed the meeting.

Finally, the Cherry on the Top

The cherry on top is that it’s free to use Slack. That’s a good deal for everyone, and it’s an even better deal to make a chatbot for your team for free.

This is why ChattyPeople is here, as we provide you with a starter plan where you can build your chatbot and integrate it into Slack with one button.

5 Ways Chatbots Have Shaped Retail

Retail, one of the oldest industries in the world, has shaped and reshaped in so many ways, and it`s in the stage of doing it once more.

Chatbots are tools that will change our lives as we know it, and by using them for retail, they will affect how we are shopping.

To help, here is a list of 5 ways how this technology is being used to reshape retail once again:

1). Facebook Messenger

Facebook opened the door and welcomed chatbots to live inside their Messenger app. Using the Messenger app for shopping will change the way we shop, and it will simplify things and be much faster and safer.

Adding other users to the Messenger app will increase the use of this app, and the options to text, call and shop will save time for the consumer.

2). On-Demand Shopping Support

Using chatbots and having them at our disposal 24/7 is proof enough that retail is reshaping. Shopping through the Messenger app or any other platform will become our personal shopping assistant and is a time-saver which makes shopping much more manageable.

With chatbots, we are able to find the products that suit our needs much faster. Since the chatbots implementation into our digital lives, shopping will never be the same again, as it will be more personal and more useful for both sides of the customer and the company.

3). Lower Costs

Millennials prefer the chatbot as a way of communication over all other sources. Even so, not everyone is on board with this as the number of users interacting with chatbots and their demand it’s rapidly increasing.

The best part and most significant benefits are that it will lower the cost on both sides. When I say both sides, I mean the customer and the brand behind the chatbot.

Companies that are using chatbots can reach a much broader audience than others, and with this, they are lowering the cost of the products because they save more money on marketing and human resources.

With the lowered costs, customers are much more satisfied using this technology.

4). Voice

Voice-activated chatbots definitely reshaped the retail industry the most. With voice recognition and improvements in this technology, we will experience shopping like never before.

Here are a couple of examples:

  • Amazon

Amazon made a breakthrough with chatbot technology. Providing their customers with a well known Amazon device, Echo and Echo Dot, gives a new way of interacting with technology and a new way of shopping.

Having a friend with whom you can talk to and order through is amazing. It`s been proven to work very well for Amazon, and this is why other companies will pursue this way of doing business shortly.

  • Wall-Mart

Followed by offering two-day shipment, Wal-Mart teamed with Google has offered to their customers Google Home Mini. Together, with the Google Home device, they will provide a shopping experience through voice, and I believe it will be better than Alexa.

This is one thing that Amazon needs to be concerned about.

5). Inside Stores

We all have used price checkers at stores, and we know how helpful they may be. Lowes went little further and offered their customers a chatbot that will help them find what they are looking for.

They announced that this year, they will put in use their LoweBot in some of their stores as an experimental stage. This is one more way how shopping has changed with technology.

Are We Using Chatbots To Avoid Human Contact?

Yes, we are using chatbots in a good way. This is not a first time for change ─ the good kind of change for companies.

From going to a store and dealing with long lines so we can address a concern about a product, we have gone to a telephone call to do the same. However, a phone call is still not the right answer. And that’s why we will turn to chatbot technology instead.

Are we driven to avoid human contact? Here are 6 reasons why this may be the case:

1. The 1-800 Nightmare

To reach a customer representative over the phone, using the 1-800 telephone number is a nightmare. “Please stay on the line while we connect you…” Well, you all know the line, followed by the annoying background music.

Who wouldn’t want to avoid this?

2. Bad Tempers

Have you experienced a bad temper or a moody customer service rep? Most of us have. Yes, people have troubles, and sometimes they bring personal problems to work which reflect in their attitudes towards customers.

This won’t be the case with chatbots, as they don’t experience moods. They will not freak out on us and won’t offend us, and they will show professionalism in every way.

3. Attitude Problems

You are walking in a store and someone who had a long day of work gives you the attitude that feels like you did something wrong. You are approaching them for help, and they are acting like you are in their home, and just crossed the line.

Again, chatbots will never act as if you are encroaching upon their space.

4. Lack of Knowledge

Not everyone is putting in the effort to learn more and upgrade their knowledge of the field that they are in. So many times, we are misguided and get the wrong information, And, in the end, we lose a lot of time and our patience, as well.

With chatbots, all of that will change, as it will be easier to mentor a chatbot than teams of people.

5. How Good is Customer Satisfaction?

At the University of Michigan, the American Customer Satisfaction Institute provides monthly ratings to 240 companies across 34 industries. The ratings they are gathering is mostly about customer service provided by these businesses and their employees. The number that they are getting in retail is 78 which is equal to a student grade of a “C” average.

6. Harmful for Business

Poor customer service is harming a lot of businesses. Most companies don’t receive the bad feedback because people, in general, don’t want to waste more time with the company.

Here is how many people complained about a bad experience:

  • Only up to 5% report the problem to management or HQ.
  • 45% of complaints are received by front-line representatives, to an agent or a branch.
  • And 50% don’t complain about the encountered problem, at all.

This is why businesses are starting to use chatbot technology, as it can provide better customer service for their customers, and will save them money in the long run.

Final Thoughts

Are we using chatbots to avoid human contact?

Of course not, we are just trying to avoid bad tempers and human errors behind the work that we do.

Chatbots are becoming more professional and won’t get mad at us for asking a “stupid question.”

Don’t let your company suffer ─ be more involved with new technology ─ it will help give your customers a better experience for your brand.

7 Chatbot Security Issues To Consider

Chatbots are still new, and they are exciting technology that everyone wants to use and experiment with.

However, like any new technology, there are ways that they can be security risks, as well.

Here are 7 chatbot security issues you need to consider and try to prevent:

1. Encrypted Channels

This one is critical of how we are using chatbots. What I mean is that you need to consider what platform you are using to shop on. Is it a random website or a well-known store platform?

Using a chatbot on an unsecured website could become an information security risk. Therefore, for e-Store owners, we need to establish an encrypted channel that will provide the safety we demand for our customers.

2. Payment

Payment is, I think, the most important security issue. When payments are involved, no matter what channel you use, you need to provide well-proven and secure payment methods to your customers so you can provide trust and ensure their way of shopping.

Even if today’s banking system differs from the last couple of years, and the bank itself provides security, you are obligated to make your digital space safe for your consumers.

3. User Identity Authentication

This one, as all security issues, is important, but I would say, critical.

Chatbots are in the beginning stages still, as they are a new technology, and a lot of companies, new and old, will want to take advantage of one.

User identification could be a problem for new startups to gain trust in because the old and well-established brands have been with us for a while. Because of this, they have already built a trust connection with their customers, and it’s easier to give information to someone you have already worked with that is using a new technology.

It’s like your well known Rickshaw rider bought a car and now is a Taxi driver.

4. Hacks

Every new technology is vulnerable to security breaches via hackers who want to find users’ information and exploit it. Hackers can easily probe through simple channels of communication, so you need to provide well-established security steps if you want to use a chatbot as a tool for your website.

5. Identity Theft

Identity thieves use the information they can obtain online to abuse and take advantage of your bank account and they can ruin your credit rating. So, again, I would say this will be a trust problem for users to use a new technology with a new brand and will provide a little piece of mind if we use a well-known brand instead. But there is protection available, even for startup companies, so be sure to utilize it.

6. Scams

As with every channel on the internet that we have used so far, there are scammers, and there will be scammers to be aware of in the future.

The good thing about chatbots is that you can block them through Messenger.

I need to mention these well-known security risks ─ well known in the computer world ─ Viruses, Malware and Spyware.

Virus

As we all know, viruses have been with us from the beginning of the computer industry. You should be aware of viruses, as well as malware, and don’t allow yourself to download and install something from a chatbot because chatbots can use it instantly and there is no installation required when dealing with chatbots.

♦ Malware

What is Malware?

Malware is software that is intended to damage or disable computers and computer systems. There is a big possibility for it to be spread through chatbots, but one thing is on our side, and that is that the malware chatbot will send you a download file, so keep this in mind: Don’t download a file that you don’t recognize.

Your protection is that chatbots don’t require downloading and especially installing an App or software.

♦ Spyware

Spyware is a computer program or Mobile App that can retrieve information about a computer and forward it to an external party. So, I will say, remember this trio of programs and don’t install anything from a chatbot, at all.

7. Facebook is an Answer

With all the above-mentioned issues, we can still have a little peace of mind: If you use Facebook as a channel to connect to the bigger audiences and a way to sell, we all know what kind of company Facebook is, and that they are providing the necessary security that we need to have.

And, when implementing your shopping experience through Facebook, they provide payment methods that are proven to be trusted and secured.

If you use a well-known and established social network,  like Facebook, and take advantage to sell through them, you will gain customers’ confidence and provide security and teams of people that are working on security and improving it every day.
